Club Outline
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Rotarian. Rotary is a service organization and requires a commitment on your part to become involved in community service projects as well as Country wide and International. Rotary International is an association of individual clubs that operate autonomously. Membership is extremely important to us, and we are always eager to hear from individuals interested in our mission and joining a Rotary Club. We welcome visitors to our weekly meetings! Our universal premise is that each club's membership constitutes an accurate representation of the business and professional population within the community served. Membership in a Rotary club requires an invitation and sponsorship by a member of the club as well as an available business professional classification.
Responsibilities of Membership - Members are encouraged to attend weekly meetings. There are several opportunities to make up attendance including attending other Rotary club meetings or club activities outside of the weekly meeting.
Club members are welcome and encouraged to visit clubs while traveling.
Local meetings: There are four local Rotary clubs. The Wasilla Noon club meets at the Wasilla Senior Center Wednesday's at noon; Palmer Rotary meets at Palmer City Ale House at noon on Thursdays; Susitna Rotary meets at Piccolinno's Restaurant, Wednesday's 6-7:30pm and Wasilla Sunrise meets at 7am on Tuesday's in the Meridian Point Building on Seward Meridian Pkwy. in Wasilla.
Wasilla Sunrise holds two to three fundraisers each year in which all club members are asked to participate in. These funds are used for multiple service projects globally and locally.

Club Expenses
Yearly Sunrise dues are $350 per year. You have the option of making payments. These include the dues that Sunrise pays to District 5010 and to Rotary International. It also covers club expenses. Dues will be prorated if you join during the calendar year. Weekly Expenses: $10 for continental breakfast. Punch cards are available
Weekly Meeting Outline: Place: Meridian Point Building, Seward Meridian Parkway, Wasilla. Our President will ring the bell at 7am and meeting will last one hour. Please turn off your cell phone or you will be fined. The Pledge of Allegiance and invocation will start the meeting. Guests and Visiting Rotarian's are introduced. The first 3 meetings of the month we have a guest speaker and the last is club assembly. Happy Bucks, Sgt-At-Arms, 50/50 winner and announcements are made during the meeting.
Rotary pins are given to members and are worn to every meeting and are encouraged to wear all the time. Each member will also be given a badge with their name and classification which is worn at each meeting. Our club Secretary is in charge of setting up each member with a user-name and password for our website. Each member receives a subscription to the Rotarian Magazine which you will receive every month.
If you would like to invite someone to speak to our club, you can contact our club program director to get them scheduled. Once a month we have a "Club Assembly". Each member chooses a committee to serve on for the year and plans for ongoing and upcoming projects are discussed.
Inviting prospective Members - Guests can be invited to a club meeting by any Sunrise member. If they become interested in being a member, they are required to attend 2 consecutive meetings and then are voted on by the board of directors. Once voted on, their name is presented to the club and without objections the person is notified and will be inducted in at the next regularly scheduled meeting. Sunrise Rotary will pay for your first 2 visits. If you are interested in becoming a member you would be required to attend 3 consecutive meetings.
Rotary Firesides and social events - Firesides are an opportunity for fellowship, aside from weekly meetings. It is the responsibility of the Club Committee to plan these events that are usually held in someone's home. These events are a great way to meet your club members and you are highly encouraged to attend and bring family members and someone you may want to introduce to Rotary. You can also receive a attendance credit.
Object of Rotary The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an opportunity to serve society; The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business and community life The advancement of international understanding, good will, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional men and women united in the ideal of service.
