this week
Dr. Jamin Burton

Join us as we welcome Dr. Jamin Burton, Music Director for Colony High School. Last Thanksgiving, THE Northern Sound Marching Band, directed by Burton, marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade becoming the first full band from Alaska to do so in the events 91 year tenure. While under his direction, THE Northern Sound has also performed in the 2009 US Presidential Inauguration, the National Independence Day Parade in DC, the Rose Parade, and the Sugar Bowl.

Come join us on Tuesday morning to hear what's next for Dr. Burton and his students - there are some exciting things on THE horizon!

New beginnings: Rotary year 2018-19
July marks the beginning of the new Rotary year!

New RI President Barry Rassin’s theme for 2018-19, Be the Inspiration, asks Rotarians to inspire change in the world and in each other. “I ask all of you to Be the Inspiration to help Rotary move from reaction to action — to take a hard look at the environmental issues that affect health and welfare around the world and do what we can to help.”

WSRC Says Goodbye to Gus

Our Rotary Youth Exchange Student, Agustin "Gus" Lira, finished up his year in Alaska and began his journey back to Mexico on July 19, 2018.

Gus gave his final presentation all about his Alaska experience at our July 10th meeting, sharing highlights from his time here: playing football for Wasilla High, spending time with his Rotary families and friends, developing a love for Cinnamon Toast Crunch, swimming in local lakes, participating in the Polar Plunge, and his West Coat Trip.

Thanks for sharing the last year with us, Gus, we will miss you!
