September: Basic education & literacy month
September is Rotary International's Basic Education & Literacy Month.

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population. Rotary's goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.

Educating El Salvador's Women

At last week's meeting Tony Gasbarro, founder of the Project Salvador Scholarship Program, came to share about the great work this educational program is doing in El Salvador.

Specifically, the Project offers educational scholarships to women in El Salvador. “When you educate boys, you educate an individual. When you educate girls, you educate a community," Gasbarro said.

Thank you, Mr. Gasbarro, for such an inspirational presentation. To learn more visit Project Salvador Scholarship Program online.
